Apple's Vision Pro is experiencing a significant surge in popularity, especially among developers. On Tuesday, Greg Joswiak, Apple's Senior Vice President of Worldwide Marketing, revealed on X that the company's headset already features more than 1,000 apps specifically designed to make the most of the new hardware.

The $3500 USD price tag could suggest a restricted market for developers. However, App Store data indicates that more than 50% of developers have opted for a paid app model rather than freemium or free options with in-app purchases or subscriptions, as is common across the rest of the App Store. This implies that, even if only a small number of customers download their application, developers will secure revenue for their work.

While the Vision Pro has the capability to run more than 1.5 million compatible iOS and iPad apps, applications designed specifically for the spatial headset are those built to take advantage of its distinct capabilities.

The rapid increase in the number of Vision Pro apps shortly after launch suggests that many developers in the Apple community continue to view the company as a viable platform for achieving success. This comes despite recent moves by the company, which some consider anti-developer, aimed at making regulations such as the EU's DMA largely ineffective.
